Show & Tell Your Way to Retailing Success
GMX's flagship product is the Model 800 Magnetic Fluid
Conditioner, and the best way to sell it is to "show and tell."
First, you show people the problems that hard water
and scale build-up are causing in their homes. Then, you tell them
how the Model 800 can eliminate those problems.
This is best done during a "walk-through."
Walk-throughs are when you, the GMX distributor, walk through the
homes of potential buyers (preferably in the company of not just one
but both spouses), show them key problem areas of scale build-up,
and offer the GMX product as the logical, cost-saving solution.
How to do a walk-through? It's easy. You don't have
to be a plumber. You don't even have to be an "expert."
Just follow the instructions outlined here. If you have any questions,
ask your sponsor to lead you through the steps that are unclear.
The following are the four scale build-up targets to
zero in on during your walk-through, and the steps to take for each:
The Main Bathroom
- Screw off the aerator on the sink faucet and show your customers
the scale build-up.
- Hold a mirror under the rim in the toilet bowl and point out
any black build-up around the jets.
- In the bath/shower, show how the shower head is plugged up with
build- up. Look for spots, scale build-up, or mold on the shower
door or curtain.
The Kitchen Sink Area
- Screw aerator off the kitchen sink faucet to show scale build-up.
- Ask for a clear glass. Hold up to the light and point out the
signs of scale on the glass. Set this glass aside for future comparison
after the Model 800 has had time to take effect.
- Look under the sink to see which chemicals are being used for
cleaning. This will indicate the extent to which your potential
customers are having to fight scale problems.
- Check the element in the dishwasher and point out any scale build-up.
(As a helpful suggestion to your customers, recommend using powdered
rather than liquid detergent, and cutting back to one tablespoon
of powder per wash.)
The Laundry Area
- Look for scale build-up inside the lid of the washer.
- Point out any signs of scale above the shut-off valves of the
washer. (Suggest using powdered detergent instead of liquid, and
cutting back the amount of detergent used by 50 percent.)
Water Heater
- Because it's not feasible to take the water heater apart in order
to show your customers the effects of scale build-up inside it,
ask if it pops or crackles. These are indications of build-up. The
absence of these sounds doesn't mean that problems don't exist,
however.
- Tell your customers about the extent to which hard water causes
scale problems in their area, and explain what scale will do to
their water heater, such as causing inefficient heating, wasting
energy and money, etc. (These problems are described in greater
detail in the product section of this manual.)
- If you install the product, tell them you will return to flush
the water heater in three to five weeks.
As you walk through the house showing your customers their scale
build-up problems, and describing the negative impact scale has on
plumbing fixtures, appliances, and their pocketbooks, be sure to tell
them how magnetic fluid conditioning will solve these problems, and
how they will benefit. Please refer to the product section of this
manual for this information.
Show and tell. It's a winning combination for GMX retailing success.
